Well, well, well, it’s my first time to log into my accounts after more than a week! I miss blogging already! It’s been a busy last week at work that I didn’t even have the time to blog about Ramiele’s departure from AI. I say she had it coming. After choosing one bad song after another, it was time for her to go. I’m still a fan, though.
- Listening to Marc Anthony's songs from the albums Mended and El Cantante and thinking why he sounds increible en espaƱol and ghastly in English.
- Organizing photos from last December's trip (DOLOR!!!! I never thought this could be so taxing. I've never been a procrastinator, and the first time I try being one, the consequences slap me like a mean biatch. LESSON LEARNED.)
- Waiting for 'em downloads to finish. Finally, Children of Heaven (the Iranian film)!!! Priceless (the new Audrey Toutou film)!!! Flawless (the new Michael Caine/Demi Moore critically-acclaimed film)!!! Naissance Des Pieuvres (aka Water Lilies, a "sexy" French film I want to see)!!! The Diving Bell and the Butterfly!!! They're currently at 70%. DOLOR!!! The wait's killing me! Good thing my download of Infernal Affairs was lightning fast and is now ready for my viewing pleasure. Yipee!!!
- Finally, finally, finally furnished a copy of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, the first Aishwariya Rai film I watched. The movie is so beautifully shot, typical of Bollywood films. The colors! The textures! The feline grace of Ash! The screeching voices of Alka and Kavita!!!! What's not to love?
- Watching American Idol's Top 8 ep. Wow, I loved KLC's performance. No sarcasm mixed. Song choice was perfect, she looked beautiful, and the singing was OK. It scares me to say this, but I actually don't want her to go home this week based on this performance. David Cook didn't work for me this week. Contrived with "give back" written in his palm. Schmaltz. It was a very strong week for almost everyone (Given that KLC gave a really good performance, that should be an indication! lol) Carly was a little out of the theme. I have to agree with Simon; it was too dark to be inspirational. Also, I loved the Paris Bennett version better. Carly was angry, but no grit. She always has passing marks from me vocally, but I always have an itty bitty problem with her credibility in her songs. She has a Celine Dion vibe in her vocal (full and soaring), but when Celine sings, I believe every word, with matching chest thumping and vocal calisthenics. When Carly sings, I have difficulty believing her song. I was finally starting to believe her last week with her amazing rendition of the Dolly Parton song, but this week, something's missing again. Hmmm....
Things to do:
- Buy an Eee PC. My major gadget crush has turned into a major gadget lust. I have to have it by this month! However, having it by this month would mean a month's savings for the Mexico trip reallocated. Sheesh. Priorities, priorities. OK, gadget lust trumps wanderlust.
- Open a Landbank savings account. I got scared of a horror story by an officemate who's sister's SSS account was used by another person. When she wanted to apply for a loan for the first time, she was informed that she can't do so anymore because she had acquired a loan already. Damn. If somebody were to use my SSS account for loan purposes, that'd be me, me, and me alone. SSS releases loans through a Landbank account. Once I have my Landbank account, here I come, SSS!!! Loan to be used for trip. Current savings to be used for gadget purchase. There is order in the (my) universe. YES!!!
- Print my ebooks on Italian or Russian language learning. I wanna speak Italian or Russian now.
- Look for a copy of El Orfanato (The Orphanage), one of last year's scariest (with a heart) movies. Of course, the Oscars snubbed this Foreign Language entry from Spain, along with a host of other amazing flicks (Persepolis, Lust Caution [disqualified???], 4 months, 3 weeks, 2 days). My copy screamed PIRATED so I'm looking for a better version.
- Decide if I will go to Puerto Galera this May. 60% of me have decided on no. I need a unanimous decision.
Random mysteries yet to be solved:
- Why is Ali Mall STILL under renovation? The last time I visited Ali Mall when it was NOT under renovation was in 1999, after an AdMU-DLSU game, I think. Since then, I accompany my mom on visits to the said mall because it houses the nearest PAL office, where my mom buys her return ticket to Bacolod. Through the years, a substantial portion of the mall is ALWAYS undergoing some sort of facelift. I understood the need for a renovation during the late '90s...well, actually, I can still see the need for a renovation up to now. It just bothers me how this renovation has been going on for like close to 10 years already. WHAT GIVES? 8 years of renovation and the place still looks like... nevermind. I'm saddened by this, remembering very memorable summers in Cubao, where Ali Mall played a not-so-small part.
- Why is it that despite being in the typhoon belt, our country has not buried its electricity cables underground? Why is MERALCO so fond of putting posts and connecting them with wires that get cut and are rendered useless by signal #1 typhoons? Electricity wires and posts are EYESORES and are so ineffective. They are only good for one thing: as space for politicians to plaster their posters when election season comes. It's irritating to see a beautiful tree-lined street like Reposo aesthetically destroyed because of these dangling wires. SO EFFING THIRD WORLD. Ang hirap na nga ng Pilipinas, ang panget pa. Gimme a break.
